Rolex and ETA Watch Mechanism Repair, Maintenance and Lubrication Guide
The delicate gear wheels, stone bearings and mainspring of mechanical watches require regular maintenance. ETA watches with 3135 and 3235 clone movements are subject to the same service procedures as original Rolex calibers. The table below summarizes the periodic maintenance stages applied in our workshop.
| Criteria Examined | Original Model | Super Clone (ETA Clock) | Workshop and Test Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Complete Disassembly and Cleaning | The mechanism is divided into more than 100 parts | 4-stage cleaning in apple ultrasonic washing machine | Old dried oils and metal dust are completely removed. |
| Escapement & Anchor Lubrication | Pallet jewels | Moebius 9415 special thixotropic track oil | Excessive lubrication should be avoided, only micron drops should be placed on the stone surface. |
| Gear Set & Wheels | High speed wheel shafts and pivots | Moebius 9010 synthetic fine watch oil | It increases the amplitude by reducing the friction to zero. |
| Mainspring & Automatic Module | Main spring drum and reversible wheels | Moebius HP-1300 (Kluber) high pressure oil | Prevents the mainspring from sticking to the drum wall; Provides 70 hours of reserve. |
| Timegrapher Setting | Electronic calibration in 5 different positions | Beat error < 0.2ms, Amplitude 280°-310° | Daily deviation is regulated to a range of -2/+2 seconds. |
Expert Advice: When Should You Serve Your Watch?
If your watch lags ahead or lags more than 10 seconds per day, if the reserve time is shortened or if the crown becomes hard, it means that the oils have dried out. Maintenance should be done every 3 years to prevent the mechanism from wearing out.
