Mechanical and ETA Watch Setting: Critical Safety Rules
Mechanical watch mechanisms work by precise synchronization of gear wheels. Setting the calendar at the wrong time may cause the gears to break. This table gives gold setting rules for ETA watches.
| Criteria Examined | Original Model | Super Clone (ETA Clock) | Workshop and Test Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dangerous Time Zone | Between 21:00 and 03:00 | Quick date and calendar settings should never be done! | Pins may break as the date skip gear engages the wheel. |
| Safe Setting Procedure | Move the hour hand to the 06:30 position | The mechanism is completely released | You can safely change the date as you wish. |
| Time Forward Rule | Always turn the hands clockwise (forward) | Maintains the natural direction of rotation of mechanical wheels | Do not turn the hands back unless necessary. |
| Waterproof Check | Use after fully locking the crown. | Ensures compression and water tightness of seals | Be sure to check the top lock before swimming. |
Workshop Alert
Trying to start a stopped watch by shaking it puts unnecessary shock load on the balance shaft. Always start your watch by manually winding the crown 30 turns.
