Oris Audi Sport Limited Edition Review: Celebrating a Strategic Partnership That Spans Years

Time to start the engines!
Oris, the official timekeeper of Audi Sport, is launching a new Limited Edition Oris Audi Sport model as the third link that solidifies their partnership.
Oris strengthens its partnership with Audi Sport in the WEC (World Endurance Championship), which started in 2014, and launches its third limited edition chronograph. In this 3rd model of the limited edition Audi Sport series, Oris equips its new chronograph watch with a "vertical countdown", a must-have innovation on a track. Oris is to the Swiss watchmaking industry what the German team is to the automotive industry: high-performance mechanics, precision engineering and impeccable design, all with an accessible price tag.
On the last day of Le Mans, Oris opened a new sports room dedicated to the solid team that won this famous race 13 times. Audi participated in the race with two hybrid R18 prototypes; One of them, wearing the number 8, took his place on the podium at the end of the race.
Oris Audi Sport Limited Edition Watches Review
Oris has made it a tradition to produce new Oris Audi Sport limited edition watches to celebrate each year of their partnership.
[First Oris Audi Sport Model #01 774 7661 7481-Set]
The first Oris limited edition Audi Sport was a 44mm watch released in 2014, when the partnership began. This watch, which has a titanium case, has lume-coated numerals and hour and minute hands on its silver dial. The chronograph has a large red central seconds counter with a 30-minute subdial counter at position 12, a 12-hour subdial counter and date window at position 6, and a linear small seconds indicator at position 9. There is a tachymeter scale on the bezel for speed measurement. Inside the watch beats a 25-jewel movement that operates at 28,800 vph. The Oris 774 caliber uses the Sellita SW 500 base and offers a 48-hour power reserve. The watch comes on a black calfskin strap with a sporty perforated design and white stitching.
[Second Oris Audi Sport Model #01 778 7661 7784-Set LS]
The Oris Limited Edition Audi Sport II was introduced in 2015, in the 2nd year of the partnership with Audi Sport. The black DLC-coated titanium case houses a Sellita SW 500-based Oris 778 caliber, beating at 28,800 vph. Like the first watch of the series, this model also has 25 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. What distinguishes this watch from the flagship model of the series is a black dial and a day/date function at position 3. Oris also designed this watch with a tachymeter scale on its bezel and used a color palette of black, red and white to give it a more serious performance racing look and feel.
You'll notice that the layout of the chronograph subdials is different on the second model; There is only a 30-minute subdial at the 12 position, and like the first model, there is a linear small seconds display at the 9 position. The watch comes on a black calfskin strap with a sporty perforated design and white stitching.
[Third Oris Audi Sport Watch Model #01 774 7661 7784-Set RS]
The Oris Limited Edition Audi Sport III was recently introduced to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the partnership with Audi Sport. The titanium case with black DLC coating houses an Oris 774 caliber based on the Sellita SW 500, beating at 28,800 vph / 4 Hz. Like the 1st and 2nd watches of the series, the 3rd Oris Audi Sport has 25 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. What distinguishes this watch from the previous 2 models in the series is a black dial and a date window at position 6. Oris also designed this watch with a tachymeter scale on its bezel and used a color palette of black, red and white to give it a more serious performance racing look and feel.
The layout of the chronograph subdials is different in the third model; There is a non-linear small seconds indicator at position 9. There are also two sub-dials: a 30-minute sub-dial counter at position 12 and a 12-hour sub-dial at position 6. There are only 500 units of this limited edition Oris watch available for sale worldwide. The watch comes on a rubber strap with a sporty perforated design to stay consistent with the look of the first two watches of the series. All black dial; It features red accents on the hour markers and large central seconds hand.
