Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Apollo 8 Review

The Omega Speedmaster model is produced by leading Super Clone manufacturer workshops with a high-tech ceramic case, standard case diameter and high-precision automatic Super Clone movement architecture. It is among the most successful 1:1 super clone watch reviews on the market, with its sapphire crystal AR coating glass, original case tolerances and detailed workmanship.
A particular Omega chronograph watch has been to the Moon's surface not once, but six times. In doing so, the Omega Speedmaster has become quite an iconic watch among collectors. There are many Apollo mission limited edition models available and we will review each individually over time; but today we will cover model number 311.92.44.30.01.001.
Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Apollo 8 Dark Side of The Moon Review
The first thing that will catch your eye about this watch is its striking dial with a laser-engraved lunar surface texture; This texture can be seen through the skeletonized dial, which highlights the blackened caliber inside.
The chronograph's 30-minute subdial is located at 3 o'clock, the twelve-hour counter is located at 6 o'clock, and the small running seconds subdial is located at 9 o'clock.
Another design element I welcomed was the subtle but subtle use of the color yellow. You'll find this color on the chronograph hour and minute hands, the tip of the hour markers, the Tachymètre text printed on the bezel, and the 'Speedmaster' text below the Omega logo on the dial. It is also present on both the stitching and the inner layer of the perforated calfskin strap.
The polished and brushed 44.25 mm black ceramic case is 14.25 mm thick and the lug width is 21 mm if you want to use the watch with an aftermarket strap or bracelet. The chronograph pushers and crown are made of polished black ceramic with the lume-filled Omega logo. The sides of the case use brushed workmanship; It has a smooth polished beveled edge that tapers from the brushed lugs to the side of the case.
Lume filling is also found on the tachymeter scale, hour markers, and central hour and minute hands. These glow-in-the-dark areas glow a mint green-like hue and can be easily read in low light conditions.
The back of the case reveals the Omega caliber 1869 movement through a transparent sapphire glass case back. The laser-engraved plates and bridges, visible through the transparent caseback, have a lunar surface texture, as does the dial on the front of the watch. This nineteen-jewel hand-wound movement has a 48-hour power reserve and operates at 3Hz, or 21,600 oscillations per hour.
The case back also features an engraved inscription with the words 'Dark Side of The Moon', the date of the mission and the historic statement made by NASA astronaut Jim Lovell - "We'll see you on the other side". This statement was made just before radio silence as the rocket orbited the Moon. According to accounts, communication between the Apollo 8 vehicle and the NASA station on Earth was blocked by the Moon. The whole world held its breath as the Apollo 8 crew had to circle the other side of the Moon so that communication could be restored and they could continue talking.
One thing is for sure, this watch will undoubtedly be a conversation starter. It has a distinctive sporty look and, as a limited edition, it will stand out from most Omega Speedmasters you may encounter.
