Tudor Black Bay 41mm Review

The Tudor Black Bay model is produced by the leading Super Clone manufacturer workshops with a solid stainless steel case, 41 mm diameter and ETA 2824-2 caliber in Swiss norms architecture. It looks and feels like a real dive watch. However, its waterproof rating of just 200m/660ft makes it only suitable for light snorkeling, swimming or showering (in cold water only). Many professional divers do not consider Black Bay a viable option; There are many other watches that have the same dive watch look and feel but also offer the waterproofing needed for adventure.

Are Tudor Black Bay watches good? Let's look at the many reasons why this is a great watch. If you don't know, Tudor is owned by Rolex, or actually vice versa, so you should expect good quality. This is probably why you can find stylistic similarities between the two brands. Sharing does not end with aesthetics. In fact, Tudor uses some great in-house movements and this Black Bay has an excellent one.

As for the larger size case, the point is that with the growing trend of large watch designs for men and women, there was a high demand for a larger size case. The new larger version is a huge improvement over the previous 36mm Tudor Black Bay, powered by the ETA 2824 automatic movement. Although the ETA 2824 caliber was reliable, it was limited to working for only 38 hours when fully wound.

Today, the Tudor Black Bay 41 is powered by Tudor's self-winding MT5612 caliber: a 26-jewel movement that uses high-end components such as a silicone mainspring to combat magnetic interference and includes a variable inertia oscillator to keep time more precisely.

This home-made movement is a COSC certified Chronometer, has an impressive power reserve of approximately 70 hours and oscillates at 28,800 VPH (vibrations per hour).

The case uses a combination of brushed workmanship on the lugs and the top of the case and the case back, and polished workmanship on the side of the case and crown. The crown features an engraving of the Tudor rose and features a winding tube that uses the accent color of the design. The watch below shows the same crimson color with the bezel crowned with sapphire glass. The unidirectional rotating bezel has a lume point at the starting position of the aluminum bezel ring.

Is the Tudor Black Bay a good investment? In general, no watch should be viewed as some kind of investment designed to increase in value. These are consumer products and typically lose value over time. Especially if you're wearing it for the first time. The rare occasions when a watch increases in value are so few and far between that in most cases, with very few exceptions, they should not simply be expected to increase in value.

There are various models in the Black Bay series with different color and material options. Some models have a stainless steel bracelet, some have a dual-color bracelet, and others have a leather strap or fabric (NATO) strap. Overall, this collection became very popular, so much so that it also gave rise to a chronograph version.

The cases and dials of various watch models offer subtle but elegant differences in color and material. There are models with red bezels, black bezels and some with blue bezels.

Considering the success of this series, Tudor will most likely introduce other colors in the future, as it has done in the past. For now, almost every model has a black dial, with a few exceptions such as a dual-tone bracelet with a champagne dial.

The dial layout is quite distinctive. It uses a combination of round and index hour markers with lume material for low-light visibility. The hour marker at 12 o'clock is in the shape of a triangle extended downwards. Around the dial, you will see a printed minute and seconds track.

This Tudor Black Bay uses polished hour and minute hands. The signature snowflake-style hour hand features plenty of lume material, making it highly visible in the dark.

One last thing worth noting about this watch is the buckle used on the NATO straps. It features elegant brushed workmanship and a double flute-shaped buckle that matches the upper part of the Tudor logo (see below). As with great design, it's in the details.
