One of the simplest and most unpretentious diver's watches that has a huge presence on the wrist is undoubtedly the Luminor. In fact, the larger-than-life look we see in the case sizes of today's modern luxury watches all has its origins in Panerai. Let's get straight to the point, shall we?
Panerai Luminor GMT 44 mm pam00531 Review
From its Florentine dial to its proprietary crown guards, the Panerai Luminor is one of the most recognizable Italian-designed and Swiss-made watches. Now equipped with a GMT function that also displays the time of another time zone, Panerai Luminor GMT 44 mm PAM00531 is prepared to meet the needs of the most stylish jet-set world travelers.
GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time; It is a time measurement standard established in 1884 that pioneered standardized time zones around the world. This watchmaking function is often used by frequent world travelers and, of course, pilots.
dial
The Panerai PAM00531 watch features a Florentine-style sandwich dial with mint green lume numerals and a recessed layer used for the hour markers. A date window can be seen at 3 o'clock.
There is a small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock; It features four lume recessed hour markers for the top, bottom, right and left positions and two printed indicators between each lume marker.
The GMT function has its own set of numerals and hour markers that wrap around the outermost edge of the dial in a smaller font. GMT's 24-hour markers use Arabic-style numerals every two hours and indicators in between.
Skeletal and lume sword-shaped steel hour and minute hands were used for the hour and minute hands. An arrow-shaped hour hand indicates the secondary time zone of GMT, which features a lume "arrowhead". Lume uses a small leaf-shaped steel hour and minute hands for the small seconds subdial.
CASE
The polished cushion-shaped stainless steel case is 44 mm in diameter and 18 mm thick. This measurement does not include Panerai's signature crescent-shaped crown guard, which protrudes from the right side of the case. Like most Panerai watches, it has a substantial case and is well suited to medium to large sized wrists. The case has a polished fixed bezel and offers 300m/990ft water resistance with its robust construction.
ears
The ears have a polished workmanship on the front and a fine brushed workmanship on the back. Behind the left ears you will see a recessed area with a button for changing or attaching the strap. A tool is provided for you to change the belts.
Back of the Case
The dodecagonal case back is screwed closed to seal the case. It has a smooth radial brushed finish and the number of the limited edition watch is engraved. It is also engraved with other markings such as serial number and waterproof rating. The watch has a scratch-resistant sapphire glass on the front of its case, and a transparent sapphire glass on the back that allows you to see the mechanism in action.
mechanism
The automatic movement that powers this watch is their own Panerai Caliber P.9003. This 28-jewel self-winding movement contains 288 parts, including a Glucydur® balance, and operates at an oscillation rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement offers an admirable 3-day (72 hours) power reserve thanks to its double barrel. The plates and self-winding rotor are finished with a fine and smooth brushed finish.
Power Reserve Indicator
The back of the case lets you see the power reserve indicator mounted on the disc, letting you know how many days of power are left in the mechanical movement. This feature is useful if you haven't worn the watch for a while and haven't left it in a watch winder to keep it fully wound; Indicates whether you need to install it manually before installing it. Power reserve is measured in days using three figures with an indicator mark measuring half-day marks.
straps
PAM00531 comes with two straps: a black soft calfskin strap with cream stitching and a stainless steel tongue buckle with brushed and polished finish. An additional black rubber strap with the same pin buckle is also offered.
