Omega's Mechanism Development Stages

The Omega Wristwatch model is produced by VS Factory with a 5th class titanium case, standard case diameter and ETA 2836-2 caliber in accordance with Swiss norms architecture. First stage: Sea-Gull mechanism.

Second stage: Citizen 8215 plus fake movement plates.

This phase started in 2012. Some factories have released a movement based on the Citizen 8215 and covered with decorated plates. Whether it was for Planet Ocean or other Omega replica watches, this was a huge development at that time. Look below, the mechanism looks better, right?

Movement and Caliber Performance

However, this mechanism has some problems. When you shake the watch, the second hand stops. The second hand continues to move while setting the time. The stones were attached to the mechanism plates with glue; Stones and screws can easily come off and damage the mechanism itself.

Third stage: Hangzhou 6770 movement plus fake movement plates or Asia 2836 movement plus fake movement plates.

Six years later, in 2018, some manufacturers released another good-looking movement based on the Hangzhou 6770 or Asia 2836. This mechanism fixed a few bad issues seen in Citizen 8215. But its function is still different from the original. The hour hand cannot be adjusted independently, the balance wheel is not black and is smaller in size than the original.

Fourth stage: VS factory's in-house 8500 movement.

It was developed entirely by VS factory, without basing it on any Asia mechanism. Each screw and stone in the mechanism has its own purpose, the stones are no longer plastic. The functions of this mechanism are exactly the same as the original. The position and size of the balance wheel are correct.

I don't know if the VS factory will develop a more advanced movement in the future, but this in-house 8500 will be used in replica Omega watches for the next few years. The mechanism that emerged in the third stage is still used by many small factories in our market; You need to keep your eyes peeled to avoid buying cheap quality replicas.
