It was Monday, January 18, 2016; All of the world's best watch manufacturers were gathered under one roof and were preparing to show the world their newest and most innovative watches. The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, known as SIHH to the world's leading watch experts, was about to begin and tensions were mounting.
Every Swiss luxury watch manufacturer was about to showcase their most brilliant innovations and watchmaking masterpieces, and while each was making mental preparations before unveiling their new timepieces, one of the most important names in luxury watches had a secret weapon in his hands: a new men's watch from the JLC Reverso family.
It has been 85 years since Jaeger LeCoultre introduced the JLC Reverso collection. To celebrate another major milestone, Jaeger-LeCoultre took on the already iconic Reverso collection, which has been a huge success for almost a century. A major innovation brought to this watch was worth the eighty-five year wait: a series with two dials.
This is the kind of men's watch that will make you do a double-take, with its beautifully designed, high-contrast, silver fine-grain textured dial, blue dauphine hour and minute hands, and hour markers. You'll probably look twice to get a good look at it all, because there's a second watch on the back with an additional time zone and a 24-hour day-night sub-dial at position 6.
The reverse side of the watch features a rich blue textured clous de Paris guilloche dial with polished white gold hour and minute hands and matching hour markers. Unlike previous Reverso watches, you can adjust the GMT time zone sub-dial on the opposite face of the watch with a new and innovative lever on the top of the watch case. When the lever is pressed, the dual time zone adjusts the time on the subdial in one-hour steps. The hand is carefully hidden behind the case and is only revealed when you release it from the case back to turn the watch to its other side.
The heart of this breathtaking, hand-wound JLC watch beats at 21,600 VpH with a Jaeger LeCoultre Caliber 854a/2 movement consisting of 160 parts, including 19 jewels; The power reserve keeps this watch running for approximately 42 hours, and like all Jaeger watches, each of these watches undergoes a rigorous master control test lasting forty-one days / 1000 hours.
Recently, a limited edition version of this collection was introduced using a two-tone cordovan leather strap from renowned Argentinian bootmaker Casa Fagliano. Why was Casa Fagliano chosen for such a collaboration? It probably has something to do with both of their passions for polo. A sport for which the idea for the Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso was originally conceived. JLC Tribute Duoface Casa Fagliano editions are boutique pieces, and the chances of owning a Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Duoface with Casa Fagliano's handmade cordovan strap are as low as being struck by lightning twice on the same day.
