From its polished 18-carat white gold case to its sturdy construction and impeccably crafted mechanical movement, the Marine Royal Alarm will fascinate and attract you. The round case measures 45 mm and uses a combination of brushed and polished workmanship. The notched bezel rotates in one direction and carries Arabic numerals engraved in a classic serif font between 4-5 o'clock and 11-12 o'clock. Although this is a fairly large case, it fits on the wrist like a smaller watch, thanks to the central positioning of the Roman numerals on the black dial and the wavy pattern running along the perimeter. There seems to be a lot going on on the dial. Let me explain one by one so you can understand what these different elements are.

The flat brushed black numeral ring running through the center of the dial bears vibrant blue lume dots used to indicate where the alarm function is set. The blue arrowhead hour hand in the center is the alarm hand. This is a self-winding 12-hour alarm. It can be adjusted and changed with the rubber-coated crown located on the right side of the case, between 4 and 5 o'clock. The on/off function of the alarm can be easily controlled with the grooved, wavy-shaped button located at the 8 o'clock position on the left side of the case.

The diamond-shaped hour markers run along the edge of the dial and are filled with glow-in-the-dark lume material, in a lighter shade of blue than that of the alarm. This was done to differentiate between the lume material used for timekeeping functions and additional functions such as the power reserve indicator at 10 o'clock and the previously mentioned alarm function.

There is a date window at 6 o'clock on the dial. And at the very center of the dial is a section with Breguet Marine's signature wavy shape. This section bears a wavy guilloche textured pattern radiating outward from the center. The same guilloche pattern is also featured on the outer frame of the dial, where the hour markers and finely printed seconds track are located.

This Breguet Marine watch features Breguet's signature fluted textured coin edge on the case edge. On the right side of the case, the tilde-shaped polished latch protruding between the two crowns keeps the bezel rotating in one direction. The case features polished lugs that bend at a slight 'J'-shaped angle, and a textured rubber strap attaches to these lugs with small polished screws. The rubber strap is fixed to the wrist with a polished 18 carat white gold deployant buckle.

The clear sapphire glass case back will probably be the part you'll find most fascinating; because it reveals the engine that makes the heartbeat of this watch. Here is Breguet's own self-winding caliber 519r self-winding (automatic) movement, which operates at a constant speed of 4Hz or 28,800 VpH. This 36 jewel movement features a solid 18k white gold rotor artistically decorated with a textured spiral wave pattern. Other plates in the movement use a combination of different craftsmanship, and pink sapphire watch stones can be seen scattered across the various plates. The estimated power reserve of the Breguet 519r caliber is +/- 45 hours. The case back is securely secured with six polished screws, providing a 300m/1000ft water resistance rating.
