Meteorites are rare. It is equally difficult to find Rolex watches with these meteorite dials. Rolex equips certain models, which it reserves only for its most exclusive watches, with a dial carved from a real meteorite. Let's have a close encounter with one of these, what do you say?

Rolex Meteorite Dial
Rolex watches are known for their extraordinary dials, but the look and texture of these otherworldly meteorite dials are literally out of this world. Rolex has a history of crafting some of its most famous and remarkable watch collections in rare materials, and you can only find these dials on Platinum or 18k gold watches.
Most meteorites consist of either space rock or are fragments of planetary cores that once orbited us and were pulled to earth by our planet's gravitational pull. Most meteorites also look like an ordinary rock; So where did they find such striking-looking meteorites? For the answer to this question, we look back almost two hundred years in history to Captain J.E. We go to the moment when Alexander reports the formation known as the “Gibeon” Meteorite, which is categorized as a Class IVA meteorite in the Namaqualand region of Namibia. An 11.25” x 8.75” x 0.25” thick slice of the Gibeon meteorite sold for $11,875 at Christie’s, which hopefully gives you an idea of its value.
The “Gibeon” Meteorite is believed to be part of a planetary core and has that distinctive crystalline crosshatch pattern, consisting primarily of crystallized iron and nickel. This pattern can only be seen in the interior of the meteorite when it is sliced. This pattern is also known as the Widmanstätten pattern or (which may be easier to pronounce) the Thomson structure. These patterns are often found in octahedrite iron meteorites and some pallasites. This pattern does not occur in iron ores of Earth origin.
What remains of the 26,000 KG Gibeon Meteorite found along the Great Fish River in Namibia is now under the protection of the Namibian government. Fortunately, Rolex was able to procure some of this interstellar material before these protective laws came into effect.
This exquisite meteorite dial features 18k white gold hour and minute hands and baguette diamond index hour markers. The curved day display window is located above the polished Rolex logo at 12 o'clock; To increase the readability of the date window at 3 o'clock, there is a cyclops magnifier fused to the scratch-resistant sapphire glass. The day and date, which change gradually in most other watches, change instantly at midnight on this watch.
18 Carat White Gold Case
The 18 carat white gold case is 40 mm in diameter (47.4 mm from lug to lug) and 12 mm thick. Rolex has its own foundries that allow it to cast the most exquisite alloys for its gold. This guarantees maximum brightness. They examine every piece of metal they obtain in their own in-house laboratories, with new generation equipment, to ensure maximum purity. This brings to mind that familiar saying: “If you want to make sure something is done right, you have to do it yourself!”.
The case has an 18-carat white gold Twinlock winding crown and a fluted bezel, which is one of the most distinctive 'Rolex' features with its wavy design. Instantly recognizable and extremely stylish. This signature Rolex feature creates a harmony of light and shadow when light hits the fluted bezel. In fact, this was originally a functional design element used to grip a rotating bezel. But over time, it has evolved into a premium aesthetic feature in some of the most valuable Rolex collections, appearing only underneath, even with a fixed (non-rotating) bezel, as here.
Mechanism
Powering this magnificent watch is the in-house self-winding caliber, the Rolex caliber 3255 automatic movement. It has an impressive power reserve of approximately 70 hours and oscillates at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. This 31-jewel movement has a blue paramagnetic Parachrom mainspring and is also protected by Rolex's own Paraflex shock absorbers.
Caliber 3255 is both a COSC Certified Chronometer and a Superlative Chronometer. This means that the movement was first sent to an independent laboratory at COSC and received Chronometer status, a prestigious precision pedigree that certifies a deviation accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day. The caliber is then sentbackto Rolex, where it is cased and further adjusted until it reaches an astounding accuracy of no less than -2/+2 seconds per day. All in all, this is an extremely precise mechanical caliber.
President Bracelet
Just like the case, the President bracelet is made of 18 carat white gold and looks exquisite. The links are semicircular in shape and brushed workmanship is used on the outer links and polished workmanship is used on the inner links. When all the links are attached, it can wrap wrists up to 8" or 20.5 cm. The President bracelet is closed with one of Rolex's hidden folding Crown clasps. I wonder if Rolex will release a model with an Oyster bracelet or Jubilee bracelet, like in the Datejust collection.
