Today we will take a look at a more elegant watch. To something less sporty, more stylish. Jules Audemars Perpetual Calendar is the kind of watch you won't want to wear every day; Not because you can't carry it, but because it's a special watch that you'll want to wear only on special occasions.

dial

The watch you see here has a gorgeous brown sunray dial with rose gold index hour markers and hour and minute hands. There is a finely printed second and minute track between the rose gold index hour markers placed around the dial.

The calendar sub-dials are a slightly darker shade of brown and use a white printed font to indicate the day, date, day of the week, and a leap year indicator located in the middle of the sub-dial at 12 o'clock. Additionally, a moon phase is displayed in vibrant colors at 6 o'clock. These calendar functions are set with recessed buttons on the side of the case, as we will talk about shortly.

CASE

41 mm 18 carat rose gold case 9.1 mm thick; This is considered quite thin for such a perpetual calendar watch. The movement features a solid gold self-winding rotor, decorated with exquisite carvings and partially skeletonized. The rotor has a skeletal frame depicting the letters "AP" and is decorated with inscriptions such as "ADJ TO HEAT COLD FIVE (5) POSITIONS", "ISOCHRONISM", "THIRTY-EIGHT (38) JEWELS", "SWISS AUTOMATIC" describing the various features of the movement, elegant engraved design elements and of course the Audemars Piguet logo.

The mechanical movement that powers this watch is none other than Audemars Piguet caliber 2120/2802. It is a 38-jewel self-winding caliber with 343 parts, a power reserve of +/- 40 hours and a heart rate of 2.75 Hz, i.e. 19,800. It's not a standard swing.

There are other engravings around the case back. One of these is the name 'Jules Audemars' engraved in raised letters inside a recessed, curved rectangle with rounded edges.

STRAP

The strap is made of dark brown crocodile leather, which is thicker at the top where it connects to the ears and tapers towards the buckle. The back surface of the strap in contact with the wrist has a soft calfskin layer for a more comfortable use.

The strap uses brown stitching and secures to the wrist with a polished 18-karat rose gold deployant buckle designed in the shape of a partially skeletonized AP logo. Additionally, the Audemars Piguet brand text is engraved on the buckle.
