Submariner has evolved steadily over many years. As new watchmaking technologies emerged, many patented by Rolex, the Submariner only got better, more precise and more reliable. The only thing that did not change was the Submariner's iconic appearance. Although watches have been designed larger over time, the Submariner, which started out as a 36 mm watch in 1955, has grown over time and has now reached a larger but still conservative 40 mm size.

It was not until 1966 that the Submariner Date with date display was added to the long Submariner family that graced the wrists of the happy people who had the chance to own one. Equipped with a Cyclops lens that magnifies the date display, the Submariner collection introduced a new feature that has now become one of the most recognizable symbols of a Rolex watch.

Dial

The stainless steel hour and minute hands of the Rolex Submariner Date are also filled with lume; This provides maximum visibility in low light conditions. The Cyclops lens is located above the date window at three o'clock, magnifying the date.

In addition to this outstanding oscillator design, it is a Swiss-made chronometer that has been subjected to many tests by COSC. Not only is 3135 a COSC-certified caliber, but like all mechanical Rolex watches, it underwent additional adjustments when it returned to the Rolex factory after gaining its prestigious mechanical nobility at COSC.

CASE

The 40 mm case is made of 904L steel and is 13 mm thick. It's a nice size for everyday wear and isn't as bulky as the Rolex Sea-Dweller or Deepsea watches. The crown is also polished and uses the patented Triplock locking system, which allows the crown to be screwed into the oyster case. This, together with the screw-down solid steel case back, locks the crown and tightens the case as securely as a submarine hatch, allowing for a water resistance rating of up to 1000 ft / 300 m.

BEZEL

116610LN features a unidirectional bezel made of polished steel with a serrated, easy-to-grip rim. The bezel has a black Cerachom bezel insert. This ceramic bezel is highly resistant to discoloration associated with exposure to ultraviolet rays. This material is also very scratch resistant and good at avoiding corrosion. The bezel has matte silver-toned numerals and graduated indices with a lume dot at the home position.

Bracelet

Submariner 116610LN is equipped with an Oyster bracelet made of 904L Oystersteel and using Rolex's Glidelock extension system, which allows you to easily adjust the bracelet size.
