While the trend in watch case sizes shows that people are buying watches with larger cases these days, the 5 watches we feature are all 36mm mid-size watches and can be worn by women, or even men with average or slimmer wrists.

Another common aspect of these watches is that they are all Rolex Day-Date 36 mm models. Rolex prefers the term 'burgundy' or 'cherry dial' rather than 'red dial'.

I'm guessing this is because it's just a more marketable term for their target audience.

The first model we will talk about on the list is the Rolex reference 118139 Cherry Index Leather. This watch uses a 36mm case made of 18k white gold and has a fluted bezel that gives it that very distinctive “Rolex look”. This model comes with a matching leather strap in Burgundy red and is the only model on the list that comes with a leather watch strap.

This red-faced Rolex uses a 31 jewel chronometer known as caliber 3155; This is an automatic/self-winding caliber that operates for approximately 48 hours at 28,800 VpH when fully wound.

It should be noted that there are 5 models with red dials and all five are Rolex Day-Date 36 mm watches. However, the difference between them (other than the price and model number) is this: All 3 models use 18 carat white gold cases and each comes with a different type of bracelet; one is an oyster bracelet (118239 Cherry Index Oyster), one is a president bracelet (118239 Cherry Index President), and one is a red leather strap shown above (118139 Cherry Index Leather). It's a shame that the only materials used are white gold and platinum. There is neither rose gold, yellow gold or steel option.

It would be nice to see a red Rolex Datejust on this list, or a model with a red dial in another material like stainless steel, or even solid 18k yellow gold. I'd even settle for a stainless steel 36mm Day-Date with a red dial as a more affordable option for those who don't want to spend the budget on gold or platinum models. Maybe even a Rolex GMT-Master II with a red dial to go with one of the models with a red and black split bezel. If you see one like this in the future, know that you heard it here first!

The two most expensive models shown below use platinum, not 18-carat white gold. The more expensive of the two platinum models has a diamond bezel (ref. 118346 Cherry Index President), while the more affordable one has a flat bezel without diamonds (ref. 118206 Cherry Index President).
